Arguably the most iconic Egyptian god, Anubis has a mysterious pull on people worldwide. He’s known as the Jackal-headed god, The Right Hand of Osiris, and the Egyptian god of the dead. He is one of the oldest Egyptian gods and today remains a popular deity among magicians, witches, and pagans.

As a way-walker along the lines of Hekate and Hermes, He likes locks and keys. I’m told by a Kemetic that hematite, obsidian, and tiger’s eye are the stones He likes. His colors are black and gold, and in fact He is sometimes called The Black and Gold God. Since Sirius is His star, images of stars or other celestial phenomenon would be very appropriate. The number nine is possibly sacred to Him, as He was known for defeating the Nine Bows of Egypt.

Anubis is the guardian of the dead, yet he is also open to anybody seeking transformation and wisdom. He is widely regarded for his ability to protect people under his guidance, making him someone you can rely on for safety when you need it the most. I noticed some mentions describing him as a protector of travelers. In my opinion, that applies more to people going through life, people that are still “traveling” to find their purpose, rather than literally traveling anyplace.

I’m very fond of him, and I think he is a very captivating deity since he is known for conservation and evolution.
