Description

Our Kali Ma devotional candle was designed to represent her as Hindu goddess of time, creation, preservation, and destruction. As fearsome as she may appear, she is the most compassionate goddess of them all.

The Kali Ma candles are beautiful to display in your home as they are powerful when used in devotion rituals.

At first glance and without understanding, Kali ma may appear more like a demon and less like a loving goddess. But she is simply misunderstood. She doesn’t fit into neatly packed boxes of good and evil. In truth, she transcends both.

Know her:

She embodies the gunasor the three qualities of Prakriti or nature. Her white teeth represent sattva, goodness and purity. She uses her sattvic nature to create life. Her tongue is red, which represents rajas, passion or activity. She uses her rajasic nature to preserve life. Her eyes are red with rage and intoxication, which represents tamas, ignorance or inertia.  She destroys with tamas.

In her left hands, Kali ma goddess carries a sword of knowledge to destroy ignorance and a severed head which represents liberation from the ego, or attachment to the body. Kali’s two right hands are shown in abhaya mudra (fearlessness), and varada mudra (blessings). She is most popularly depicted with four arms, though sometimes with ten. Her ten armed form is called Mahakali, and her ten arms are depicted holding many different ritualistic objects and weapons, each of which represent the power of one of the Devas. This implies that Mahakali is responsible for the powers of each of these deities.

Working with Kali:

Ways to invoke Kali:

  1. Meditation – visualise her image and see what arises
  2. Self reflection – ask yourself questions like, where are you suppressing your wild, feminine self? Or, is there somewhere in your life you are playing “nice” instead of expressing a more truthful, angry, enraged self?
  3. Asana – Take goddess squat and let out several primal roars from the belly
  4. Offer your negative beliefs to Kali. Visualise bowing down to her and offering her your limiting beliefs for her to destroy.
  5. Journal with Kali – ask her the following questions: What do you have to teach me? How do you express yourself in my life? How are you suppressed? What do you think needs destroying in my life?

Remember, Kali is not an energy to take lightly but she is loving. If you are ready to come alive, wake up and live your life fully, She is a necessary force to guide you there.

Thus, anyone wishing to connect with the dead must evoke the help of the Baron, who then determines whether to allow the dead to contact the living world or not. He may also be asked to dispel ghosts that may be haunting the living and even asked to ward off death.

Colors:

In all forms of representation, Goddess Kali is usually depicted as naked, in blue or black skin colour signifying the sky and the ocean, and seen with her tongue hanging out.
